Racing runs deep in the Danner family, and now third generation driver, Briggs Danner of Allentown, is rising through the national ranks. Danner’s father, Roy Danner Jr., and grandfather, Roy Danner Sr., raced at Dorney Park, Nazareth Speedway, and Grandview Speedway.

Briggs Danner began racing quarter-midgets at the Schnecksville fairground at age 5.

“From before I could remember I always wanted to be a race car driver like my dad and grandfather,” he said. “It’s pretty cool to be living my dream of racing sprint cars and carrying on the family name in the racing community.”

By 2024, Briggs was a back to back United States Auto Club (USAC) East Coast Sprint Car Champion. In June of that year, he picked up his first national event win at his hometown track, Grandview Speedway, in Bechtelsville.  With that win he became the first Pennsylvanian to win a USAC National Sprint feature in 25 years, and the first Pennsylvanian to win a series race in his home state since 1979.

“Ya you know it was pretty neat to get my first National win at a place like Grandview where my dad used to run, especially being the first PA driver in 20 some years to win as well,” Briggs said. “The support from the hometown crowd was incredible and really just made my team and I even more fired up about the rest of the season.”

The fire  did indeed rage on as Danner picked up two more wins that season. Both came out of state at Bloomington and Lawrenceburg Speedways in Indiana. By the end of 2024 he was named the USAC National Most Improved Driver.

Now in 2025, Danner and his team run the full USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car schedule, which takes him across the country to compete.

With ten races left in the season, the third generation hometown kid hopes to continue his successful 2025 campaign. Danner still has some ground to make up in the point standings in hopes of winning a national championship title, but if anything is certain, he has already left a mark in his family legacy and has won over fans all across the country.
