On the evening of Sept. 9 at the Archer Music Hall in Allentown, Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) student volunteers attended the 5th Annual Innastar Trailblazer Award Show pre-mixer. Wendy Barron, professor of media communications at LCCC, was nominated for the Educator Trailblazer Award and arranged for LCCC students to volunteer at the pre-mixer, which was hosted a few weeks prior to the official award show slated for Oct. 3.

According to the Innastar website, the award show honors “creatives and leaders who have demonstrated excellence, impact and legacy.”

With more than 100 nominees for the award show, the pre-mixer event was an opportunity for nominees and volunteers to network.

The Innastar Award Show pre-mixer included food, music, speeches, a panel, pictures and more. This event gave volunteers the opportunity to meet finalists for the award show, learn more about the event and build connections with each other.

“It gave me a lot of exposure, and I think this will give me the ability to network more,” said Emily Arnold, an LCCC student volunteer.

In addition to professional networking, student volunteers also explored potential careers.

For LCCC students, the event extended far beyond volunteering—it was an opportunity to support Professor Barron and build lasting connections that will carry well past the Innastar Trailblazer Award Show.
