“A Fast Stop” hits the Big Screen: My Road to the Allentown Film Festival

Hunter Arnold | Writer

After almost a decade of making videos on the internet, it is an honor to say that one of my very own short films will be playing on the big screen this April.

The Second Annual Allentown Film Festival will be showing a variety of films from around the world and the backyard of the Lehigh Valley. This includes the premiere of my short, centered around the wacky antics of Speeder-Man, who plans on teaching the audience the wonders of traffic safety. It’s odd to see it reach such a milestone, leading me to wonder how exactly I got here.

Since 2016, I have been creating no-budget comedy videos in the woods with my friends. Oddly, this hasn’t changed. The difference is experience, along with meeting people with the same passion as I. Even with a full time job, this cobbled crew and I took time to practice our craft, and gather equipment to give ourselves the cinematic edge we longed for. My time at LCCC has only expanded this journey, giving me the chance to work and collaborate with several talented students and staff through classes and Film Club. With graduation on the horizon, I wish to thank everyone who has been by my side thus far, and I hope this is only the beginning of our filmmaking journey.

“A Fast Stop” will premiere at the Civic Theatre in Allentown on April 11, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.
