Uncover LCCC’s Hidden Gem: The Tutoring Center

Healley Saltz | Writer

Most students agree that college courses are difficult, to say the least, but the Educational Support Center offers a helping hand. Located inside LCCC’s Fowler Center, free tutoring is offered to all students for a rewarding experience.

“The best thing about being at the front desk is that I get to see when students come back,” says Kristine Shaffer, office assistant of Educational Support Services. “When they show a good grade to one of our tutors, they say I couldn't have done it without you.”

The tutoring center is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., all additional information can be found in student’s portals.

The tutoring center offers specialized tutors for most subjects, interactive anatomy diagrams, a writing lab, learning specialists and more free resources.

George Stasak, an LCCC math tutor and former electrical engineer, agrees that the tutoring center is vital for all students even if they are not behind in class.

Countless students make use of this resource, engaging with staff and peers to make academic strides.

“My favorite part about the tutoring center is that it’s very welcoming and all the people are supportive,” says LCCC student Eve Levin. “It helped me because without it I would have failed my classes.”

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, confused, clueless, or all of the above, stop by the tutoring center and get to know the people and content it comes with.
