Words from the editors
It is so fun to be on the opposite end of this, considering last semester I was just a journalism student, trying to write the best article I possibly could.
In the current stage of my life, I guess you could say I am trying to hit the ground running.
With graduation just around the corner—and the world as we know it mostly likely forever changed—I have been trying to find my next focus in life. Who am I, and what is the story I am trying to tell? Who am I past the college student that I have been the last few years? What is below my own surface? These are the questions I was asking myself last semester, and it is what prompted me going to Professor Heimann and asking for an interview as a Paw Print editor. I always enjoyed writing, but would I enjoy a career fully built around it? Could I break out of that comfort zone and take on more leadership roles? The answer was an overwhelming yes!
I strongly suggest if you have an opportunity to broaden your horizons or break out of the comfort zone you have built for yourself, absolutely do so. If you are hesitant or unsure what classes to take next semester, try journalism! Let Professor Heimann take you under her wing and refine your skills, and if you like it, even try for a spot as an editor! You will not regret it.
