September is Suicide Prevention Month, which is a good reminder to check up on those you love and remind ourselves that none of us are truly alone.

College can be very exciting, fun, and full of new experiences. However, there’re times when we can be extremely overwhelmed. Between balancing classes, jobs, relationships and personal struggles, it’s easy to feel isolated.

You may believe no one could ever understand what you’re going through, but that’s just not true! There are always people who care deeply about you and want to do the best they can to help.

Here at LCCC, free counseling services are available for all students. The counselors are here to listen, support, and guide you, no matter how big or small your struggles or challenges may feel.

It’s also important to remember that we can never know the full story of the battles those around us are fighting. A classmate who’s always cheerful, a friend with a never-ending smile, or loved ones who appear to be doing well may be carrying burdens within.

A simple check-in makes a world of a difference. Whether it’s asking how someone is doing, sending a positive message, or simply being present and listening can mean so much.

Most importantly, remember this: you matter, you belong, and your life has so much value! Don't ever be afraid to reach out for help, whether for yourself or for those you love deeply.
