Words from the Editor
Max Barajas | Editor
Greetings everyone. If you have found yourself on this page, maybe intentionally or by accident, let me introduce myself.
My name is Max Barajas. I am a student at LCCC and an editor for The Paw Print.
I am 22, a Pisces, a bookworm, cinephile, writer, and a student.
Writing is something that somewhat scares me, but it can be thrilling and exciting, quite the experience. I never thought when I was younger that I'd find myself in Journalism, to find myself following the English path, to write as a source of comfort. I used to absolutely hate English in high school. I hated writing essays, I used to loathe writing. Upon leaving high school, I've grown a stronger love for reading and writing.
Entering Professor Heimann’s Journalism class and becoming an editor the following semester after her class has been an absolute joy for me, something that’ll hold a special place in my heart forever. It’s been an absolute pleasure being an editor this semester for the Paw Print, and I'm so thankful to be under Professor Heimann’s guidance.
I’d like to work in publishing someday, hopefully as an editor, to edit other people’s work, and offer my feedback on their creative vision and their words.
Journalism at LCCC has helped me become a stronger writer, and has helped me realize my flaws and errors in writing. Being an editor has also taught me lessons not just in writing, but how to be conscientious and proper.
I’d tell everyone to follow their hopes and dreams, and especially to follow your heart and gut. Only you can decide at the end of the day what you truly want to make of yourself, the direction you are going, and what you want to do with your life. Don’t let anyone stand in the way of that.
Sincerely,
Max :)
