Think the library located at LCCC is just a quiet place for books? Think again. The Rothrock Library is a place where students can go to further advance their learning and uncover hidden gems that are often overlooked.
A main struggle that students face is sitting down to study for an upcoming exam, or getting ready to tackle an assignment only to get distracted by things around them. A solution to this common problem can be found at the main campus’ library in the form of the newly added study pods that provide a distraction-free environment.
Richard Paterick, an associate professor who works in the library, said that students underestimate how much the library can help them be successful at LCCC.
“We have study pods that provide a quiet place to study or meet in small groups,” Paterick said. “Students often don’t realize these spaces are available to them.”
In addition to the many study spots students can easily access, there are also both print and digital resources to aid students in their schoolwork.
"Students gravitate to our electronic sources, but print materials are easy to find, navigate, and cite,” said Paterick.
These resources can be useful for courses that require students to heavily research topics, but can also be used for everyday assignments students receive.
According to Rothrock Library’s website the library provides students with “superior, cutting-edge collections, services, and technology,” including the ability to chat with a librarian that can assist your educational needs.
Whether students need a quiet study space to concentrate, a spot to work in a group with peers, one on one assistance, or a wide range of accessible materials, Rothrock Library can assist in providing a space for students to succeed.
