The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosts its yearly Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the Academy Awards recognize several achievements in the film industry. Nick Offerman will be the ceremony’s announcer. Many celebrities have been chosen to play the role of presenters, such as Elle Fanning, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johannsson.
“It could be bad, or it could be good. But, either way, in my future I would love to attend any award show,” said Yandel Ortiz, TV/Film major at LCCC. “I think the Oscars give a chance to give acknowledgement to directors and actors, especially when you know they deserve it.”
Some of the actresses and actors that are nominated are Ariana Grande, Timothée Chalamet, Kieran Culkin, and Cynthia Erivo. The Academy Awards have many categories, including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Director.
According to Oscars.org, the following movies are nominated for Best Picture: “Anora”, “The Brutalist“, “A Complete Unknown”, “Conclave”, “Dune: Part Two”, “Emilia Pérez”, “I’m Still Here”, “Nickel Boys”, “The Substance”, and “Wicked.”
Ortiz claims that the Academy Awards are bigger than any other award show. He explains that when people think about any award show, the first thing they think of are the Academy Awards or the Grammy Awards. He says those are the two biggest factors.
“Oscars are the biggest thing ever, especially because they have so many categories and awards,” said Ortiz.
