Walking It Out

The fall semester is beginning, the air is cooling down, and the deadlines are heating up. For me, spending time in this beautiful weather with loved ones helps balance the stress. Bonus points if you're also getting physical activity in, which is proven to strengthen both bodies and bonds. Quality time is made even more rejuvenating when you're both listening to the breeze rustle through the leaves.
This weekend, my mind was running ragged with schoolwork and my part time job. I felt so strung out and overwhelmed, missing friends and dreading due dates. Everything was so paralyzing. It got to the point where I confided in my boyfriend about how incapable I felt. We talked for a long while and decided to go on a walk.
As he and I walked, it felt like the ball of stress in my chest was unraveled and left behind on our path. At some point, we crossed paths with a family of deer! Experiences like that will always take my mind off of my troubles, and there's no one better to share it with than someone I care deeply about.
The blue sky of the early-fall helps soothe my mind in a way nothing else can. I love sharing it with my boyfriend, who always makes me laugh. He makes me feel significant, like there's nothing I can't do. The open sky reminds me I'm just insignificant enough for my stresses not to matter so much. The combination of the two gives me a deep sense of peace. I can't recommend a long walk with your lover enough.
