Living the life of a college student always feels like a rush: running from class to class, driving to work, or even trying to hang out with friends when you are all free. My world completely slowed down when I decided to add a new member to the family.
At just two months old, Kiki, a cockatiel, joined our lives. Birds at that age are still transitioning from a baby to a toddler, so you'll definitely have fun. They are clumsy, jumpy, and look at you for everything, but it is also the stage where you’ll build the bond of a lifetime.
When we play together in between study sessions, or he falls asleep on my shoulder while I’m doing my homework, it feels like all my worries in the world just melt away.
If you are looking for a pet to snuggle up against your neck or sing along to your favorite songs, then you may also want to consider getting a cockatiel. Now, don’t get me wrong, adding another life to take care of adds a huge responsibility, but something about having a feathered companion has made everything feel alright.
On the days I feel like I’m struggling with adulthood, he's there to remind me that we are all growing up one step at a time, and in the end, it's all worth it.
