Seniority in a Place Where You Aren’t So Mighty
Kamila Estronza | Writer

Being a senior in high school while being a mere sophomore in college can make students feel sidelined. Whilst other seniors are looked up to and praised in regards of seniority, students like me feel that they are just another number of a school holding thousands.
As a high school senior who still participates in sports and a few other activities I’m only given a small amount of instances where I’m still looked up to as a senior. In marching band, I still tend to be asked questions by underclassmen and asked to assist them.
In most cases I end up building bonds with underclassmen that I won’t be able to help guide in a school meant to be my own. Knowing I can’t be there to give back within that school setting leaves me feeling empty.
I may not feel proud of who I am as an active high school senior, but I can still look forward to my future through the early college program. Even though my goals differ, I'm still a student in two places where my education is at the top of that list.
Despite the grueling hours of studying and missing out on a position of seniority, I’m still here to prioritize the best version of myself.
