From one college student to another, I know that responsibilities tend to pile up and tower over you at times. You spend so much time juggling your classes, deadlines, and duties at work and home that you forget to take time for yourself. And while it’s almost instinctive to wallow in your stress, you have to utilize the many solutions available to you.
One simple yet effective piece of advice is to go outside and touch some grass. I don’t mean that literally, just that one of the best things you can do for yourself is to take a moment and enjoy the green space around you. You’d be surprised what a quiet study session on a cozy bench underneath a tree can do for the flooded mind.
Despite our campus being on the smaller side, there are plenty of areas for you to sit and soak up the sun. From the lunch tables outside the Academic Research Center to the gazebos in between Berrier Hall and the Rothrock Library, you will have no trouble finding something comfortable.
I know sitting in a dark room or your car for hours feels fine, but you’ll be doing yourself a disservice by not taking advantage of all the green spaces that LCCC has to offer. As we enter spring with warmer days around the corner, find whatever excuse you can to spend some time outside. Go out and read a book, have a picnic with your friends, blow bubbles, whatever you want! Just get out there!
