College life can be stressful, but campus activities give students an opportunity to take a break away from schoolwork, spend time with friends, and enjoy new experiences. At Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), students have several campus activities and events to choose from, giving them opportunities to relax, connect with other students, and take a break from their busy school schedules.
Zoe Amoros said she enjoys the activities LCCC offers because they give students a chance to relax and take their minds off schoolwork.
“I like seeing new stuff…because you get to entertain yourself and forget that you have to stress over work,” she said.
Amoros has participated in activities such as making her own keychain and a chalk activity on the pavement. She said she enjoyed the events and would like to see more activities that give students a chance to have fun and take a break from schoolwork.
LCCC promotes events through emails, Canvas, social media and flyers around campus. Even with these different forms of communication, students like Amoros believe making students more aware of upcoming activities could encourage more participation.
Other students also enjoy campus events, especially those that offer opportunities to socialize. Brianny Morales said Welcome Week is one of her favorite campus activities.
“I honestly think the amount of activities that LCCC has are pretty fun and engaging,” Morales said. “Welcome Week has to be my favorite, considering all of the games and food LCCC provides.”
Morales has attended a pep rally and said she enjoyed the fun experiences. Spending time with friends is another reason she chooses to participate in campus events.
“What makes me want to attend campus events is being able to spend time with my friends and have fun,” Morales said.
Although students enjoy the activities, scheduling can sometimes make it difficult for them to participate. Morales said extending event hours could give students more opportunities to attend.
“A change I would make to improve campus events is maybe make the events a bit longer throughout the day,” Morales said. “There are times when I really want to participate in different activities, but I have no time due to my classes.”
As LCCC continues to roll out engaging activities, students are set to discover even more ways to connect and make the most of their college experience.
