Whether you want to put your work on the big screen one day or you’re just a diehard film enthusiast, LCCC has the perfect club for you. In LCCC’s film club, members can work in a collaborative setting and share their independent work and interests.

The Film Club’s Vice President, Victoria Halkias, shared what goes on behind the scenes.

“We do more than just filming. We watch and discuss a lot of films, receive demonstrations on how to handle lighting and audio equipment, and sometimes we’re commissioned to create promotional videos for other clubs,” she said.

The Film Club’s advisors, Wendy Barron and Pete Sabino, offer their members plenty of opportunities to gain real-world experience and form connections. Through activities like film festivals, local film projects, and field trips, LCCC Film Club members are able to get directly involved with their local film scene and put themselves out there. Some members have had their talents recognized with awards from these film festivals.

The film club has several events planned for the future.

“We’re currently planning a couple of field trips,” Halkias said. “We want to plan a trip to the B&H Photo Video store in NYC. We’re also raising money by collaborating with the Outdoors Club and we’re trying to make an outdoor movie.”

For students interested in joining the Film Club, they meet on Mondays at 2:15 p.m. at WXLV. Feel free to reach out to the advisors at psabino@lccc.edu or wbarron@lccc.edu.
