LCCC hosted their bi-annual Transfer Fair on March 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Services Center on the Schnecksville campus. Many LCCC students took advantage of this opportunity and talked with several four-year college admissions officers from institutions like Lycoming College and Kutztown University.
“Many students are interested in learning about the transfer process, but they need to make the time to meet with college representatives,” said Fauzia Graham, Transfer Advisor at LCCC. “This is crucial for gaining information about the programs they’re interested in and understanding how their credits would transfer.”
Representatives from more than 50 different colleges were in attendance at the Schnecksville campus in order to properly answer questions and meet with students.
“I know there are a lot of really strong students that come here, and we would love to have them matriculate to Lycoming and finish out their bachelor’s programs,” said Jessica Quintana Hess, Coordinator of Transfer Admission and Tuition Exchange at Lycoming College.
Despite notifying students of the opportunity, Graham said not as many students attended the Transfer Fair as she would have liked.
To entice students to talk to the colleges and universities in attendance, a card was provided to each attendee that they would then get signed by the institution for a chance to win a variety of prizes. Prizes included gift baskets, stuffed animals, squishies, college clothing, notebooks, and stickers. Popcorn and pretzels were given out during the event as well.
The Transfer Fair, which happens each semester, is an opportunity to gain important knowledge and information that can benefit current LCCC students and their educational careers in the future. It is in each of the students best interest to attend this event and to take full advantage of it.
