As I write this, I can’t help but ask myself why I waited until the last minute to do so. Procrastination is an issue many students face daily, and something I personally struggle with as a student myself.
I’ll admit that procrastination is something I deal with a lot. I always find myself saying I'll start an assignment soon, but that often turns out to be a few hours before the assignment is due.
While procrastination does provide a sense of temporary relief and can even act as a motivator for completing things quickly before a deadline, it more than often leads to increased anxiety and lower quality work.
Feeling overwhelmed and stressed by the number of assignments can feed the monster of procrastination. By breaking up assignments into smaller parts to tackle overtime, you can prevent the common last-minute stress and panic to submit something before a deadline.
Choosing the right environment to work in can help make a huge difference. Working in a quiet, distraction-free space, such as the school library or student union lobby, can help you find more success in staying focused and forcing you to get things done.
By seeing procrastination as an issue you can take step-by-step, you can ease the stress of college and feel more in control of your learning.
