How Meditation Helped Me
Kevin Baur | Writer
For as long as I can remember, my brain has been going a mile a minute—always working on, worrying about, or anticipating something. It’s extremely tiring, and when I am stressed out my brain latches on and does not let go.
When I was in high school, the stress of choosing what I was going to do with my life proved to be almost unbearable, and it had an effect on my day-to-day life. I started making poor decisions as a result. Only when I turned to meditation, was I able to find some peace.
I began using an app called Headspace. This app provides guided meditation sessions and teaches how to go about the practice. Quickly, I learned how to clear my mind, an idea I never truly understood, as my mind always felt like it was about to explode with thought.
Practicing mindfulness and meditation opened a door to a much less stressful, and much more relaxed lifestyle. Finally, I could live in the moment, instead of constantly worrying about my future. I felt more confident in my decisions and stopped second-guessing myself.
Meditation led me back to happiness and could do the same for you. I urge everyone to try it for themselves and see what it could do for them.
