Food trucks bring fresh flavor to LCCC

Are you hungry? All college students are–but you’re in luck. This semester at Lehigh Carbon Community College food trucks are on campus every Tuesday and Wednesday of the month. Most are recurring, but the list is constantly expanding to include new foods for the students to try. Student favorites include Cactus Blue, Take-a-Taco, Slide on By, and Rolling Mac A Roni.
“The thing that I love most about having the food trucks on campus is the opportunity it provides to incorporate foods from different cultures into an accessible environment for students,” said College Event Planner Jennie Hontz.
While food trucks face potential sales risks on campus, their future at LCCC remains secure. According to Hontz, the trucks are a key part of her commitment to expanding campus dining options, and she expects their regular visits to continue.
“I wish [students] knew how important it is to me that we have the trucks here for them and that I will keep trying to bring new and affordable options to campus for everyone to enjoy,” Hontz said.
Andrew Granitz, the food truck manager of Cactus Blue, shared that his favorite thing about coming to LCCC is the people.
“Everyone is always so excited to see us,” he said.
He also shared that Cactus Blue plans to continue making appearances on campus to sell food.
Student Brianna Cirino says that she loves the variety and diversity of food that’s available through the food trucks.
Brooklyn Rubero, a LCCC student who also enjoys the food trucks, says she appreciates the variety of foods in different seasons. Her one concern: “I wish there were dessert food trucks more often.”
LCCC loves the food trucks, and they don’t plan on letting them go.
