Feeling behind when everyone else is moving forward

It is weird how college or even senior year can make you feel like you are both moving forward and falling behind at the same time.
Everywhere you look, someone seems to have it figured out. One person already has internships lined up. Another is getting into their dream school. Someone else somehow balances a job, good grades, and a social life. Meanwhile, you are just trying to get through the week without missing a deadline or burning out.
That pressure builds quietly. You start comparing your timeline to everyone else’s. You question if you are doing enough, or worse, if you are enough.
But here is the truth we do not talk about enough: there is no universal timeline for success.
Student life is not just about achievements, it is about figuring yourself out. Some people find success early, some later. Some switch paths completely. Growth is not always visible, and it definitely is not linear.
It is okay if your progress looks different. It is okay if you are still unsure. What matters is that you are trying, learning, and moving- even if it feels slow.
Instead of asking, “Why am I behind?” try asking, “What is actually right for me?” Because, at the end of the day, this is your path. It is not a race against everyone else’s.
