Climbing Through The Highs And Lows
Keira Davies | Writer
We all have our own ways of dealing with life’s stressors. No matter how we choose to cope, we find that it relieves the stress of our daily lives. For me, rock climbing is my way of coping with life. When I feel like everything is just too much to handle, I turn to rock climbing as a stress reliever.
When I first started rock climbing, I was horrible at it, but I didn’t care because it felt like all the cares in the world just melted away. There is nothing like the feeling of climbing to the top of a mountain and being able to say to yourself, I did that all by myself. Rock climbing makes you feel like you are on top of the world both literally and figuratively. When I finally reach the top of the mountain, I get an instant release of dopamine. I realize that if I can climb the mountain then I can face anything that life throws my way.
Everybody needs an outlet, someplace they can go to completely forget about the worries of the world and focus on other things. Physical exercise is a great way to do that; it works out the body while helping the mind. If you are looking for a physical activity to relieve stress, I highly recommend rock climbing because of all its benefits for the mind and body.
