Coping with fussy tastebuds

As we prepare to enter autumn I find myself in a bit of a conundrum. With the past week marking the return of the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks, I can’t help but feel as though I’m missing out on something; as much of a caffeine addict I am, I absolutely despise coffee.

And so, I go throughout the entirety of fall and winter hearing people exclaiming their confusion at my disdain for coffee. Yes, Rebecca, I really do hate the smell of anything coffee, and the taste is a different story.

However, my taste pallet has rendered me feeling left out of various cultural experiences my entire life. Not only do I not understand how amazing the hailed pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks tastes, but I find myself unable to enjoy apple cider or various seasonal pies.

Which, as previously mentioned, leaves me with the confusing internal struggle of trying to decide whether I stay angry at the world for not accepting my underdeveloped taste buds or revel in the money I save from minimal Starbucks trips.

So, I guess for now, I’ll sit back and sip on my can of Pepsi (better than Coke) or Arizona tea and secretly wish I lived the life of anyone passing by with their seasonal latte or aesthetic variations of coffee.
