On October 31, LCCC held its annual job fair in the Community Services Center with more than 80 employers in attendance. The job fair was open to LCCC students, high school students, LCTI students, and the public.

Career Development Director, Kescha Bell-Ross was in charge of the event and had been planning it since last April. She believes that even if you aren't looking for a job, this fair still has much to offer.

“You get to build connections, explore possible job opportunities from your major, and there are some pretty cool prizes to win for people that attend,” says Bell-Ross.

Bell-Ross even recounts some success stories.

“Attendees would be eager to learn that past students have gotten summer internships that make them over $4,000,” she said.

Visitors to the job fair felt that coming benefitted them. Many found potential employers and possible job opportunities

“There are not a lot of jobs for acting, which is what I'm interested in, but the AMC theaters were here, which I believe is the next best thing,” said Luek Laughlin, 18, general studies major. “I talked to them and am confident that I’ll get hired or at least get a job interview.”

Touring the job fair and talking to employers not only gives students exposure to what is out there but also gives them the opportunity to hear insight into what an employer is looking for and gain valuable advice.

If you missed this specific job fair, don’t stress. Career Development is always planning new events, so stay tuned!
