While the promise of snakes and lizards drew up the crowds at the Hamburg Reptile Show on October 18, the animals featured at the expo were surprisingly diverse. Amidst the rows of exotic reptiles, visitors could stumble upon vendors offering warm-blooded animals such as pigs, rabbits, mice, and ducks. This blend of cold-blooded and warm-blooded animals created a unique atmosphere where individuals could find everything from a rare python morph to a new squeaking companion.
Jim Turner, the creator of Spark Master Reptiles, has been actively breeding snakes and working on expos and shows for over thirty-five years.
"Shows have been a big part of my life. I get to show people what I love and what I do,” the breeder said, who operates locally around the Philadelphia area.
While many visitors came simply to look, dedicated attendees like Ryan Hewitt understood the deeper purpose of the show.
"This show is a great opportunity to find reputable breeders and find snakes that are right for you. Once you buy one snake, you just keep buying more,” Hewitt said.
He shares the values the expo shows by selecting certain breeders, which is important when it comes to the ethics of selecting a new pet.
Bringing a wave of energy and excitement, the reptile show was a hit in Hamburg this fall. Guests didn't just see diverse animals; they accessed invaluable expertise from breeders, making it the perfect chance to secure a new pet or simply connect with the reptile community.
