When I was in elementary school, I loved to read books. I remember reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Magic Tree House series, and when I got a little bit older, the Harry Potter series.

As I started to get into late middle and high school though, it seemed that my love for reading had dissipated. When I read, it was either mandatory for a class or a small article; it would never be a full-length book.

After I graduated high school, I, for the first time in many years, decided to open up a book and give it a chance. It was Edward S. Herman and Noam Chomsky’s 1988 book titled, Manufacturing Consent. The book really changed my perspective on reading, as it was the first book I had read in years that I actually found interesting. I attribute this to the subject matter really speaking to me and my interests. I challenge all the readers of this blog to go and find a book that speaks to their interests.

Even if you don’t usually open up a book to relax, maybe you will find something to get lost in, just like I did.
