I’m sure that by now we’re all growing rather tired of the cold, wind, and snow. As the semester slowly picks up pace and we start spending more time on campus, I’ve noticed that winter can be a little bit discouraging.
Winter has always been my favorite season; however, I understand that it’s typically few who share the same opinion. Last winter, I discovered some ways to stay encouraged during the winter semester.
I think that many LCCC students forget that we are on a campus that’s directly next to a nature preserve. The Trexler Nature Preserve has various trails and mountain tops that, when covered in snow, make for quite the scene. Taking half an hour after class to enjoy the view and explore a bit of nature can be quite the spirit booster.
On a small scale, quaint seasonal tasks and activities can also boost morale. Making a winter playlist, enjoying hot chocolate, or taking advantage of snow days by going sledding and spending time outside can make the cold a little more bearable.
Staying out of seasonal depression can be hard, but luckily for us, we go to school at a beautiful campus that makes it a little easier.
So take a break, put on that playlist, and stay warm!
