Escaping into Cottagecore

Considering how much time we've been spending cooped up in our bedrooms trying to pass the time, I highly doubt there is a single LCCC student out there who hasn't downloaded TikTok. The majority of my screen time has been dedicated to scrolling through the app searching for some form of escapism.

Personally, I've taken a liking to "cottagecore" or "grandmacore" TikTok. The pleasant atmosphere of those types of videos brings me so much peace amidst the chaos of our reality. If I'm having a bad day, I'll just settle in and watch hundreds of minute-long videos of people baking pies or twirling around in beautiful floral clothing.

In fact, I've taken such a liking to this aesthetic that I've basically turned my bedroom into a grandma's house. I've collected a bunch of little animal figurines to line my windowsill, I’ve invested in an electric woodstove heater, and I even have a knitting basket in the corner.

I'm sure that I can't be the only one who has taken a liking to the cottage lifestyle over quarantine. There's something about the simplicity and beauty of living a quiet life that is exactly what I need to get me through these times.
