After 15 Years, Indiana Jones Is Taking Us Back For One Last Adventure

Samuel Sharpe | Writer

I can’t remember the last time I was excited for a sequel to a franchise. In general, I’m not a big movie guy, meaning it takes a lot for me to be excited about any movie release. Over the past decade, many older franchises have been milked to death. Sorry, Marvel, DC, and Star Wars fans, but franchises can get bloated, especially when everything needs to be in a “Cinematic Universe”.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” will be released on June 30, 2023, and I will see it. I am excited about the fifth Indiana Jones movie because I enjoyed the first four movies when I saw them. Out of all the movie series I saw in my childhood, Indiana Jones was my favorite. When I first watched Indiana Jones, I liked the twentieth-century real-world imagery juxtaposed with the sense of fun and adventure. Certain imagery left a lasting impact on my mind, especially the nuke town and the reveal of the ark of the covenant scenes

The difference between the Indiana Jones franchise and others is due to the fact other that franchises get bloated, which kills the hype. Many might see this fifth installment as a cash grab, but that is not the case. Indiana Jones was always intended to be a series of five movies. The last Indiana Jones movie was released fifteen years ago. Marvel, on the other hand, will release five movies and a handful of shows this year alone.
